glō•minerals smoky eye kit review:
THE FIRST GLANCE: -sleek black case -durable -small enough to fit in a purse for touchups -basic, easy to follow instructions on back -mirror attached to top when opened -4 shadows inside -retails at $37 on beautystoredepot.com
THE PRODUCT: This kit comes with 4 shadows; two shimmers and two mattes.
1. shimmery, cool toned champagne with fine specks of glitter.
2. shimmery, cool taupe.
3. matte, medium gray-brown (super slight sheen).
4. matte, dark gray.
Normally, it’s the matte colors in a palette that are the hardest to impress me, but not in this case. Both are extremely pigmented, silky, and very easy to blend. The same goes for the shimmery taupe; the sheen is gorgeous and not too flashy for everyday wear. My least favorite in the palette is the shimmery base. It’s beautiful as an extremely sheer highlight beneath the brow (which is actually kind of great since it’ll work for all ranges of skin color), but that’s about it. Even with a dense flat brush, it was hard to make this shadow visible anywhere else. Not a bad shadow, but just not what I expected among the 3 others.
THE CONCLUSION: Not only is this a great smoky eye palette, but can also being used for everyday wear. The cool neutrals will look great on any skin tone and can be used in a vast number of ways. The size is absolutely perfect for travel and touch ups on nights out. My only con to this palette is the light champagne shadow with its lack of pigmentation. At first, I was slightly put off by the price as that makes each shadow around $9.25. However, after receiving the kit, examining the durabilty of the case and having a great combination of shadows all in one tiny compartment, I definitely think it’s worth it. Overall, I would recommend this palette and rate it 8/10!
